Class 1: Saturday, June 8th, 3:00 – 5:00 pm

Prevention and Protection in Today’s World:
This class helps students become aware of their surroundings and how not be a target. Not all situations demand a physical confrontation. We will work on awareness skills, healthy relationships, boundaries and how to stay safe with realistic break and escape concepts. Class Age range is for 11 plus.

Class 2: Sunday, June 30th, 2:00 – 4:00 pm

Cyber Bullying
Internet Safety and Cyberbullying for teens and parents. This class is eye opening for teens and parents, some of topics covered are how easy it is to stalk someone on social media, how “bad people” track and “groom” their victims, how to stay safe on the internet, cyberbullying, sexting, sextortion, laws and consequences. Class Age range is for 11 plus.

 

INSTRUCTOR:

Sandra Aguilera was the first woman to qualify and ride motorcycles with the Arizona Highway Patrol (Department of Public Safety). Sandra has trained and supervised numerous police officers in her almost 30 years of law enforcement and executive security/personal security experience. She has had hundreds of hours of leadership and management training. Sandra is also certified in mediation/conflict resolution. For over 6 years Sandra was the lead investigator and instructor for sexual harassment, age, race, religious and employee harassment complaints. Sandra was on the response team (S.W.A.T.) for 8 years in the East Valley, responding to riots, building entries, hostage situations, barricaded subjects and involved in hostage negotiations. She has worked with children for almost 40 years. A couple of those experiences include: Guest speaker/drill sergeant with Metro Tech High School, a vocational school teaching real life police working skills (in Phoenix) for over 10 years. Reputation working with youths grew and continued in other avenues. The American Legion called on Sandra’s expertise in dealing with teenagers to instruct "mini police academies" in Tucson. She managed the mini camps for 4 years, 3 to 4 weeks every summer.

S.T.A.R. Concepts was nominated for new business of the year in Phoenix, Arizona in 2015 for Sandra’s work with children and teens.

Sandra was nominated for the Palo Verde Social Enterprise Award of the year in Phoenix, Arizona in 2016 for her awareness classes and potentially lifesaving works in the community.
